    Ok, Lets discuss SD MODS!

Here is what I am wanting to do, possibly before the years end. I'm looking for opinions on brands, and always please provide links.

Tuner - I'm not looking for huge HP numbers cuz I wont be doing a stud job or turbo back exhaust til next year

Leveling kit - I'd love an Icon, but i'm hearing I should get traction bars and don't want to drop a lot of coin

Shocks - I know the rears are in need as I have some road bounce that shouldnt be there.

    Ok, lets start discussin :birgits_tiredcoffee

We put a K&N air intake on ours and it helped a lot with the performance.

Also I don't want to thread jack, but do y'all know any good powerstroke forums? or just a diesel forum in general?

It's usually a pretty good rule of thumb that you do an intake, exhaust and gauges before tuning. You're in a completely different ballpark than me with the 6.4, but I hear the EGR delete is a good start, then gauges, exhaust, intake, then a tuner with the whole DEF override. You usually want to keep the DEF easily re install-able depending on you're state emissions.
I hear its risky to put a tuner on a diesel without at least adding instruments to monitor your readings.

I've been looking at a couple of Intakes, was thinking a Stg 2 ProGuard 7. Any suggestions for other intakes?

As far as gauges, what others might I need? I have PSI and both eng & trans temps on the dash.

Now I was reading on the EGR delete. On my 4.6L, I needed a tuner BEFORE i could mod like CAI and EGR delete. Now, w/ this 6.4L I won't need the tuner until after that?

Exhaust - whats a fair price for a turbo back system? I've read (i think) that people do a cab off for this?

Studs - should they be done if I'm wanting big power, but just normal tunes and i'm good stock?

I'm not sure if you need a tuner for the EGR delete, I don't think you need it for an intake, but you do need it to override the DEF other wise it will go into limp mode. I'm not to well versed in the 6.4, my exhaust msrp'd around 600 just to buy. As far as gauges, boost, trans temp and exhaust temp are the important ones. I'm not sure how accurate the "dummy" gauges are on the newer trucks, I know mine shouldn't be trusted since they're not "real time" readings, they just read when they're at operating temps. I like to have reading independent from the computer but that's just me.

I'd let jake chime in on the studs, I'm not too sure about that.

Yea I just read after I posted this that w/ the DPF you'll need a tuner and exhaust at the same time, so that would run me about $1k-1.5k just there including install... I'm thinkin I can do the egr delete myself so that would help save on install. CAI is easy cheesy. So maybe i'll do an EGR and CAI first and then go from there. :hmm:

Nick, thats a pretty nice chip. I'm thinkin of goin towards something w/ a screen though so I could get a back up cam, not that I would need it for parking this short truck :poker:
