That's way too hot. My coolant doesn't get above 205* coming out of the engine. Something like 190* on my Edge. I have my coolant gauge sender tapped into the thermostat housing, So I know exactly the temp after the thermostat opens. (unless it goes engine-radiator-thermostat, then it's 205* going into the engine)
so friday when I got out to my truck after work I popped the hood, and saw my coolant level was real low. Drove it home, Saturday morning, I filled it up to the cold fill range, and burped the system, now it's over the cold fill range quite a bit, and this morning it hovered around 200 after it spiked at 216. I''m not really sure what to do now, it's suppose to be in the 50's this weekend maybe I'll tackle the water pump.
maybe you should try to syphon out the extra until you get to the cold range. thats odd that it was "missing" then suddenly reappeared cuz I know you didnt add more than you should have saturday morning. it sounds like you might have a clog, or the very least a constriction point, something preventing it from a complete cycle.
so it hasn't happened again since burping the system. I've been kinda watching the temps it and it looks like it helped. I reset my record temps on the gryphon. Going to check those records in a couple days and see what it says.
