In all honesty. I like to drive, I like to speed and love to race. Ofcourse my truck is not a race car but doesent mean I want it to be slow. Fords stock tuning sucks for the 5.4 3v. Now since the new motors came out it's freaking different. We don't have the slowest trucks on the market anymore. This is what annoys me. Just about everyone has jumped guns from it's a truck and shouldn't be raced to my truck is faster then that underpowered 5.3l cause we now have bragging rights. 5.4l might be slow but it's all the stock tuning. So a little mod there and here to help us 5.4 guys to enjoy our trucks. You think members are happy with there 5.4 3vs? I am but it needs a better tune and this is what I am doing. Helping our members enjoy there trucks instead of forking over another 30k for another truck. I will however buy a 5.0 mustang later though
Well looked Into cams. The frpp hot rod cams is a mild set of cams that you install and play. Does not need springs, cam phasers, or lockers. Can use the engines stock components. Rwhp gains are up to 30hp with lt headers untuned. You lose a little torque if any. They said with the custom tune you gain it all back plus more. So I will be going this route for the sound and extra hp that our 5.4l desperately needs. To get the most out of it custom tune all the way. But do all your bolts on first as in cai, ltheaders, and etc. Then install the cams so you get most out of them when it comes to dyno tuning it. Also you get a badass 70s muscle car sound. There's also thumper, and comp cams stage I & II. The thumper and stage one cams work with stock componets aswell. Only down fall about those though is a bigger loss of torque compared to frpp. This is what I read anyways from members on multiple sites. But they have the most hp gains. I rather keep all my torque and gain hp so frpp for me. But can't go wrong with any of these. But they really don't do much for our motors but make it sound cool and gain a little more hp. So forgive me for all the information I research.
