All I've done is add a CAI, and a better muffler. If I'm not mistaken the 3.8 Mustang headers fit the 4.2 as well. Also there's underdrive pully kits for the 4.2's too. Other then that, the E Fans give back a little power too. :peace:

    Welcome back Doug

Yeah.. hook a chain up to the back of my truck lol..

Just kiddin bats.. I really don't know about the 4.2 I guess you could try a programmer.. switching to a 93 performance tune is what's really unlocked the most power for my 5.4..

Not sure if there's still a programmer out there for it, or if there ever was one. I know Jet made a module you could plug in to the OBD, but whether or not they still offer it is another story.

The 4.2 is built from the same block as a 3.8 IIRC

How much more power do you think the pulleys can give?

But don't run them if you are planning a system and running a lot of lights

Let me see if I can find the links. I use to have them bookmarked, but my computer took a shat recently. I'll let you know. :peace:

On the muffler, be careful. It's easy to get a muffler on these 4.2's that sounds like a Honda in high rpms. I was happiest with my Flowmaster 50 series SIDO
