bad gas and an issue with a plug was my thought since I could feel the RPMs drop and then even out at times.

still gotta swap the other 4 plugs out for the hell of it. one head on the side I haven't done yet does has a heli coil. im wondering if I should leave that plug in. im just worried about pulling the heli coil out with the plug. I haven't had any issues with it since I put it in like 15-20k miles ago.

    what are your guys' thoughts?

    leave it alone I shall!

everyone keeps saying they fly out after so many miles, I haven't had an issue with it.

the plugs looked fine, they were just slightly over gapped. I think 1 plug on bank 2 was at the proper gap.

well replaced the plugs on the driver side of the motor with the exception of #7 since the head has a heli-coil in it.

found out my misfire/sputter issue was not because of bad gas. coolant is leaking into #5. hoping its just a gasket where the thermostat goes. the crossover on top of the intake manifold has some coolant on it right where the metal crossover meets the plastic manifold.

looks like I may be able to start work on it ASAP. I forgot my parents bought my grandpas 2001 F150 work truck for our garage door company. its just sitting in my garage. might be able to drive that to and from work while I have the truck taken apart.

anything else I should look into swapping out/checking while the manifold is off?

truck is back together but I still have a misfire/stumble. I also have a humming noise coming from the air intake tubing. only happens when I give it a little gas. I read that it could be the IAC, I had an issue with that once before but didnt replace it, just cleaned it.

looks like im going to have a rental car for a little longer than I wanted to.

on the bright side, no coolant can be seen leaking anywhere. truck isn't throwing any codes either.

getting a bit irritating. I spent 2 hours trying to trouble shoot the issue. I just hope the gaskets are seated properly and that I don't have to take the intake back off the motor, might have to get a bottle of propane to run around the edges of the intake to see if there is a vacuum leak.

    Time for a rebuild :jester:

Finding all those pesky little things is the worst part. Good luck hopefully its just an iac or maf or something. Check for vaccuum leaks like you said, thatll def cause rough idle.

What ever happened to the RCX? Just gonna stick with the body lift or you still thinking about suspension lift?

yea I just gotta poke around a little bit.

the idle is almost perfect but when I get on the gas it stumbles. I also have that odd hum noise at start up and when the RPMs kick up when the Efans come on or when I flip the heat on.

no RCX for me, decided against it when I saw they didn't recommend it for the 7700 trucks. I would love to lift it more but theres other things I should tackle before I put any more money into the truck as far as aftermarket things.

bed/cab still need to be aligned, I have a box of Hyper-Flex cab mount bushings sitting next to me that I would like to install at some point, should probably do that and align the cab/bed at the same time. also have a hole in the floor that still needs to be patched and I need to figure out wtf is still clunking when I hit the gas pedal in reverse.

well bought a new IAC for the hell of it. took the old one off and it rattled a bit. put the new one on and the growl/hum from the intake is gone. I still have a misfire though. tried a can of seafoam, didn't help any.

idle is great, truck runs fine if im light on the peddle with a slight hiccup at times. if I get on the gas it doesn't want to run right.

this only happens once it gets warm, had no issues giving it a little gas when it was cold.

also tried the propane trick, didn't notice any change in RPMs while I was moving the can around the motor.

    any thoughts?
