thats good to know and thanks. thats usually how i feel about learning new things. the first one will always suck but you learn from any mistakes you make (i make alot ) i will try this tonight. the door chime does not come on if i undo the wiring harness. if i just disconnect the radio itself the chime still comes on since the metra harness is still hooked up. if i unhook the metra harness from the factory harness the chime goes away but my wipers will not work unless i hook the factory radio up. i will unhook the radio tonight and see if it starts tomorrow morning. i guess if it doesnt start i can do a parasitic load test and see whats going on. i know wiring is a pain in the butt, but i do like it.
If it were a RAP issue, the radio should continue to be powered and play at all times (at least I think). You may have an issue with your red and yellow wires being backwards. That would feed a constant 12v to your truck accessories even with the ignition off and your radio would still get 12v with the ignition on because the factory accessory source is feeding it. Have you tried turning any of your accessories on with the adapter wired in and the key out of the ignition? I think that they would function if the wires were crossed unless there is a switched ground in there somewhere too.
none of my accessories work with the key out of the ignition. now i put a radio in my gfs mustang with the same metra harness and a metra RCA harness for the factory subs, her door chime doesnt come on but with the car off and the key out of the ignition the wipers works lol again i followed the same directions. its a 2002 mustang gt with the premium sound.
alright ive been checking the voltage of the battery since i last drove it and its stayed at a constant 12.4v
Electrical current cannot flow backwards against a diode. Cut red wire into, Place the diode inline with stripe side towards the radio on the red wire. Even stranger electrical gremlins have run around vehicles. Maybe RAP is only going to the BCM or GEM modules and not the wipers, blower motor, ect.
