rear end going out?????

it started the other night leaving work trying to show off a bit did a burn out and the took a left hand turn then i hear a loud "pop pop pop" and it jerked real bad then after i spun a bit in some loose gravel today it did the same thing just while taking turns and it poped 3 or 4 times backing doesnt roar or anthing on the road just turns and backin up... im stumped. somethig in the rear end??? help me out here

how hard they to fix bud?

 

easy ..... my parts where $80 at the ford dealer ...... im not sure how the 3/4 ton rearend is made ..... but on my 8.8 , i poped the cover off .... took the small bolt out so the pin would slide out ... turn the tires so the gears spin out .... put the new ones back in , u have to spin it and play with it to get it ligned up to slide the pin back in ..... put the small bolt back in .... cover back on , fill up with oil ... done



the reason its popin is because a few of the teeth are chipped so its makin it jump/skip a tooth and pop

 

Weld em up, cheaper and you get positive traction lol

 

you positive dustin cause i dont wanna tear this thing apart and the damn rear end falls in my lap lol

 

just do what bigun said, you should be fine

 

Before you get into that make sure it's not your u joints. 3/4 Ton axles don't go out like weak little 8.8's
