Rear main seal

    How hard is it to replace the rear main deal on a motor I have a 97 4.6 v8 with an auto tranny?

    Depends on your mechanical level but your prolly looking at about 8 hrs of work

    and the flex plate and the oil pan and the rear main bearing cap

    Well I have 2 shops I can bring my truck and work on it myself I'll have everything I need for tools and lifts

    yeah its gonna take some time, gotta drop the tranny and work from there forward

    are u 100% sure its the rear main seal?

    Update I brought my truck to one of the shops and my former auto shop teacher said its probably a valve cover gasket not the rear main seal. And also I have an aftermarket pos Pcv valve that will cause the motor to pressurize it was on when I bought the truck
