Interesting.. that thread seems to confirm what this guy was telling me about the advantages of the Whipple for a daily driver truck.

The raptor has a higher tow rating than the stock F150.

I would keep your current payed off truck. Raptors are sweet no doubt. But owning a high performance truck you built is cooler. IMO.

where did you find that info? from what I'm seeing the stock F150 has towing 8,000lbs and the raptor is only at 6,000lbs

    You were right sorry. :Grenade:

I had my numbers crossed when I was looking up the ratings. I was just checking that out. [IMG]

My Scab FX4 is rated at 7800, and the Screw is rated for 9300. I believe the Raptors are 6K for the Scab and 8K for the screw.. Although the heaviest I usually tow is around 5K anyway. (edit - you beat me to it)

That's kinda the conclusion I'm coming to as well. The Raptor hit me with the "new toy" attraction, but the more I think about it, it's really hard to justify all the extra $$ and 8.5% sales tax when there's only a few things I don't like on my current truck.

Alright.. I'm definitely keeping my truck and it's time to unleash the wallet. I was running errands down in Boulder yesterday afternoon and saw 6 Raptors (Boulder's not big, but it has a median housing price of 500K so there's plenty of cash around). It appears the Raptor is going to be the new middle-aged male minivan. After the third one they started to look the same given the only difference was paint color, and I never realized how low they sit for having 35's. I parked next to one and my truck looked like it's big brother. So, now I want to accomplish two things:

1 - Be able to smoke a Raptor on pavement One of the guys drove by and gave me a smirk. I want to ensure in the future that I could crush him down the street if the opportunity arises. Considering the trucks weigh about the same I think the Ford Racing Whipple kit will get this done for me with a realistic 70-80 rwhp advantage over the 6.2L. If a guy happens to have a velociraptor then I still lose, but that should be rare even around here.

2 - I want to upgrade some suspension. I know I'll never be able to jump like a Raptor unless I was to go with a prerunner style setup and additional frame mods, but I think I should be able to get a similar ride over rough roads.

Ideally I'd like to find a way to add travel and for my truck to sit slightly lower into the travel than it does now. I'm fairly experienced with suspension dynamics (and Fox) from DH mountainbike racing and moto, and it appears to me that the Raptor is setup with quite a bit of sag to allow for some nice negative travel for smoothing out bumps. I'd like to do the same. So, does anyone know of some suspension (UCA/LCA) kits/upgrades that are designed for 4x4 and don't require chopping up the front end? Most everything I'm finding is designed around prerunning.

I've got a good sized tax return and a work bonus on the way shortly.. help me spend it.
