its starting to piss me the **** off. im stumpped. all of my calipers except one stick. all calipers are new, all slides are greased along with the pad clips. Everything has been bled starting farthest from master cylinder. I also replaced the passenger side rear brake hose assy. which was $57 and its still sticking. now when i originally changed my calipers out they were ALL seized up and they seem to be doing the same thing as before. this is leading me to believe that all of my brake hoses are deteriorating and not allowing brake fluid to flow back to the master cylinder when the pedal is released. Like i said i have already replaced the rear passenger side hose and its still sticking so im guessing that its the hose even farther up thats deteriorating. Does anyone have any advise or have you had this happen to you? its getting really annoying pulling these flipping tires off every weekend to make sure everything was greased right. maybe there is something im missing but im sure ive got it all covered. Any insight guys? thanks for any help.
Hey Chris, you may need a new master cylinder. My truck did the same thing a month or so ago. My rear brakes would randomly lock up while I was going down the road and they would stay locked up for a while then break free again. Brakefluid was leaking out of the back of the master cylinder. I replaced that, and it stopped. Before I changed that, I had a couple hoses and lines replaced but it still did it. I paid like $34 for the master cylinder
im not having any leakage from my master cylinder and im getting good braking pressure. When i touch my rims after driving they are freaking hot. i was told thats a sign of a locked up caliper. i can also hear it if i drive next to a curb, i can hear the rubbing noise of the pads on the rotor. yesterday i took off my front tires to look and make sure everything was greased properly up front and the mother ****ers were stuck on really good. I opened the bleeders and the pistons released but they shouldnt be stuck on like that at all. its eating the **** out of my brand new pads. i did change that hose and it still does it and its not just one caliper, its all of them.
I couldn't tell mine was leaking either. We just figured it was worth a shot changing it out, and when we pulled it out we could see it was leaking out of the back. Put the new one on and went down the road a ways and not a problem.
right now this is sounding like a good idea, i keep thinking im missing soething or i did somthing wrong but everything is greased and the pistons release when i open the bleeders so idk what else to do. i have a feeling replacing it will make a big mess.
I dk man. It's not an expensive part, so it might be worth a shot. Mine was like $50 something with a core fee. Ended up being liek $34 after taxes/core
sounds like a plan. just gotta wait for the weekend, dont usually have time through the week cause of work. thanks for the info brandon
No problem. I hope it fixes your problem. I had a similar problem though and I was stumped for awhile, had to replace a couple hoses and rear brake lines and my brakes were still locking up. So I decided to change the master cylinder. When we went to remove it, we had a hell of a time getting it out. It was like glued in there from the brake fluid leaking out of the back. But we finally got it out and cleaned it up a bit then put the new one on and bled it right from the master cylinder then went for a ride and no problems ever since. Sorry for the long post haha Good luck.
lol i take it you think that will solve my problem too huh? yea and i dont want to be spending money on these ****ing hoses. the one i replaced was a dealer only part because ive got the 7 lug just like you. Ford wanted to charge me $77 for the hose assy. it was the rubber hose from the back of the caliper into the steel hose that goes across the back diff. to the other side of the axle. luckily i met a guy that gets a huge ford discount and got me the hose for $55(guess thats not a huge discount but it sounded better than almost $80). i asked him to get a price on the left rear as well...his price for the hose was over $100...for a ****ing rubber hose lol i guess ford revised the part several times on our 7 lug trucks and so the price went up a little more everytime. i just dont know what else it could be..its every caliper and i made sure they were all greased and lubed. just dont make sense.
