i been thinkin today about maybe later on down the road SASin my truck with f350 front and rear leaves and axles with a cummins 5.9 but then it wouldnt be a diesel 1/2 ton itd be a diesel 1 ton in a 1/2 ton truck hahah
or wait 3-4 years for Ford to put a smaller diesel in a 1/2 ton. Figure even if its like a 4.5-5.5L turbo diesel, it'll still probably put out like ~250hp and ~400ft/lb. Plenty for what you need...and still can put some go fast parts on to get more power.
naa doubt it. a used 350 rearends like what? 4-500 bucks? if that? maybe another 400 for the front. they stick out farther than 8.8s so i wouldnt need offset rims. could fit 33s-35s with the added spring heigth sell my axles, t case, tranny and engine, have enough to buy a 5.9 with 5 spd tranny, t case. definitley would take my BL off then. put a gooseneck ball in. ranch hand bumpers. onboard air. nice big toolbox, winch, lights, itd be a badass service/work truck id be out less than a grand cuz i like my truck haha. DEFINITLEYYYY!!! not droppin 40 to 50k on a brand new truck!! but i been sayin it since i first joined the forum scene. a 1/2 ton diesel would be money in da bank!!
not all of it. but both axles and leaves would be. make it like a project and do it over time. theres no way id be able to afford it all at once, or even while im in college
From everything I've read, Ford went the Ecoboost route instead of the diesel route in the F150. The EB 3.5L pushes 365hp & 420lb-ft, provides the max tow rating in the F150 of 11,300 (same as the 6.2L), and mpgs of 16/22 are very respectable for an F150. Give Ford a few years to improve on the design, and just maybe people won't be begging for a diesel. Plus, what is the diesel upgrade for the SD's? Something like $7K or so, while the 3.5L EB is I believe a $700 upgrade over the 5.0L. Sure it'd be nice and I'd like to see one in the F150, just don't know if it makes financial sense for Ford to to so.
