first go round i used the .99 walmart flat black and it looked like ass so i sanded em back down and used some left over gloss black sherwin williams DTM paint that i had sitting in the garage.. ive used rustoleum on other wheels ive done and they came out good youll be happy using it.
and back off topic but who ever was asking about doing the rhino-line yourself or paying to have it done.. DO IT YOURSELF, it was easy and came out great. i paid $69.00 for the herculiner kit and you get a $20 mail in rebate so $49 and i did my truck, and the cab of my buddies toyota and still have 1/2 a gallon, toolbox is next when ever i get a day off.. before and after
rwilhite07 did you just mask off the flares or remove them from the truck? i have a red truck too and after seeing yours my mind is def made up im doing it myself....i plan on doing my bumpers as well though. that herculiner stuff is great i did the inside of an old jeep with it few years ago...truck looks great dude!
Haha when I painted mine I just did it on the truck, no masking or prep. Just wiped them down with a wet cloth and dried them. I could give a shit if my tires or brakes had paint on them. I used Rustoleum flat black and the only flaking occured when a tire shop mounted new tires and weights.
Alright after much deliberation (Bigun that means talking about it) JK LMAO. I have decided to paint them myself, and i will take pics of the progress. Now to the second question i have access to a sand blaster do ya'll think if i left the tires on rims would the sand blasting screw my tires up or should i just do it the way of elbow grease and sand paper
Sand blaster won't screw the tires up but if you get carried away blasting polished wheels they will pit out on you.....if you know what your doing and go easy you can get away with it....
dgiancola, i washed and dryed my truck, then scuffed it with the pad that comes with the herculiner kit, masked it off, cleaned it with acetone, then rolled on coats. if ya got anymore questions just PM me or something and ill be glad to help but it was very very easy. i was hesistant to do it because its so permanent and didnt no how it would look but i wouldnt think twice about doing it again im 110% happy with it.
