To Cover or Not to Cover, that is the question

im not sure who makes the one i have it was on the truck when i bought it. but it works the same way that a soft top on a wrangler does. i have it off in less than 2 mins, and back on in 3. and even in the cold it still pretty easy not like those snap covers.

 

Mine is plywood lol. But It folds in half and unbolts in under 5 minutes.

 

I got the leather roll up with the snaps.Love it.Was way cheaper than the JR.All year around i never have any problems with the snaps.Got it 2 days after i got my truck back in 07 and no rips in at all,not even any small ones.Been covered in snow,sleep,ice,sap,mud.Had sharp branches from the trails slide over it and still holds up awesome brother.Also power washed it plenty of times and still holds up good.I can take it off in less than a minute and put it back on inless than minutes.Also half the price for the JR.

Only major difference is that it's low profile.but you said you knew that.So think it over again man.$760.00 is allot of money compared to $350-$400.

 

I have the extang tri fold and love it but next time I will go with the backflip.

anybody know of one that will still let me use a toolbox?

 

Do what I'm gonna do when i get read to add my tool box.But cut your top right before the tool box.But leave alittle slag.Then go buy a snap rail(can be bought at any ace hardwhere,Menard's,lows type store).Drill or use double sided tape.But on the side of the tool box.This is where you'r slag comes in and will snap right into the snap rail.My buddy did this after i told him and it worked.lol.Other than that you cant buy them to fit.

 

I like my soft cover because it keeps the bed dry and I can throw stuff in the bed and keep it out of view. Its also easy to remove when I need to haul something and not hard to put back on except the snaps are a bit of a ***** in colder weather.

Ive got an Extang Blackmax. I bought it used for $80.

I noticed an increase of 1 mpg with it on the truck.

Fiberglass covers are expensive, need to be painted and like mentioned previously dont allow full access to the bed.

 

you can buy them but they are made for certain boxes and i think they're packaged together that way. can you post pics of your buddy's cover for me please? i got one basically for free off ebay and have to make it fit my bed and toolbox

 

Someone makes one that goes w/in the rails. i know i saw one somewhere when i was lookin at all of these but i cant find it right now. it was slick; the retractable cover closed right over the toolbox and it just looked like a retractable cover, no toolbox noticeable closed.

 

When i see him next i will.Ya just came across the fitted ones for tool boxes.Ya there not cheap

.My idea involved a very sharp pair of shears,a snap rail,screws for the snap rail and a tape measure.Only cost my friend in parts,round $23.00.
