you never know when the factory ones may fail...or you may need a few extra to fix a small leak...its just a good idea to have a few extra

As long as you are just draining and replacing the fluid and not using the machine you should be good but he is correct...drop the pan, change the filter and try not to over tighten the pan bolts, fill the trans, disconnect the trans cooler line, start the truck and watch the fluid as soon as the fluid turns bright red shut the truck off...this is where the 2nd person comes in...You will need to start the truck to pump the old fluid out of the cooler...once the fresh fluid is visible connect the line, top off the fluid,be sure not to over fill ! I f you over fill the trans you take a chance on blowing the front pump seal and then the trans will need to come out...So,fill the trans and check fluid level while the truck is running and in PARK or NEUTRAL. ONLY FILL UNTIL THE FLUID REACHES THE MIDDLE OF THE SAFE TO OPERATE ZONE OR THE MIDDLE OF THE CRIS CROSSED LINES ON THE DIP STICK.Let the truck run to operating temp.Do not rev the engine until the fluid level is at spec.
