That's some sweet info. What's the special tool they talk about in the middle? The one reason I'm hesitant about installing it myself is if I forget one step and toast another tranny... I know Ford will do it right and give me a 1 year warranty on their work.

Here's how today went. Found a tranny 3 hrs away for $900 (with $100 core), 1 and 2 year warranties are available. Trans shop can install a shift kit for towing for $325 total, a performance (race) kit would be around $600. And finally, Ford charges $650 to install the transmission with a 1 year warranty on whatever they do.
    That comes to $1875...

Mag-Hytec Pan is ~$260. They only list one for the 4R70, I'm pretty sure that it'll fit mine too.

Digital Trans Temp Gauge from Summit. $60

2 gauge pod from summit. $20. I'd like to get an A-pillar gauge, but not sure which one fits my gen truck.

So that comes to ~340. For a complete total of $2215. Still cheaper than just the reman transmission from Ford!! I'm going to have to work another couple weeks to get the cash, but I'm pretty sure this is the route I'm going. Thanks for all the help guys
