Would you trust yourself to do a tranny swap? I've still got some time to talk myself into it... I'm just looking at the quickest route to driving again, and I know at most I'll need $2300 for it.

Thanks for the info Mike, you've pretty much got me convinced to do it myself :cheers2:

I'm getting ready to order the pan and gauges right now, waiting till tuesday to see if I get Tabby's truck or not. What color gauges should I get? Green, Blue, Red, or Amber? Also, what other gauge should I get with the trans temp? A voltmeter or coolant temp?

Also stuck on which gauge pod to get.
I was planning on an A-pillar gauge, but can't find one that will fit any 98+ F150s.
So I'm going to do a 2 gauge and put it in the tray on the dash, or get a 3 gauge and mount above the rearview mirror

It sounds like your torque convertor has failed or your pump pressure is too low to operate it. That can be caused by a number of things, such as: a stuck drain-back valve; an internal fluid leak - loose pump bolts or leaking o-rings; or a failed pump. If it were an electrical problem, it would have logged DTC codes. I wish you the best of luck. I would not hesitate to R&R a tranny, but I've overhauled one before. I think you will do fine. Let me know if you have any questions. Make sure you get yourself a tranny jack - don't try to man-handle it; yes, I've done that too. lol:waytogo:

The shop said it was completely toasted and the only fix was a new trans. I'll take pics when I drop the pan at home.

    Which pods? THe dash?
