Sorry to hear man. I'm paranoid that's why I always used to fishhook my radios. You should call your insurance, depending on who you've got some will give a discount for a certain alarm

Viper has the smartstart too, which lets you run everything through your smartphone. I would get the best system you can afford, especially if you ever keep tools or firearms in your truck. It'll pay for itself the first time it goes off.

I would check the options that go off with the door lock, glass break, and the tilt sensor. That way they can't jack it up and steal your rims either.

Yeah, I usuall lock my tools in my toolbox. I don't usually leave my guns in there, but sometimes you just have to. The smart phone deal intrigues me. Looks like I have some home work to do. I do realize this is a good investment though so I'm not going to cheap it.

    Dang, sorry about that Brendon.
Didn't you made some keyhole blocks earlier?

Almost every alarm/remote start system will replace/work along side
    your factory key fob.

I did a self install with an Audiovox APS997N.
Two way paging, remote start, diesel wait to start, starter interrupt,
turbo timer, 5 aux channels and vibration-glass breakage detection.
It has a bright blue flashing LED status indicator that I have facing the driver's window.

I added on an anti-jacking sensor and have been looking at adding
a microwave proximity movement detection sensor.
I also have Blackline GPS real-time tracking unit on the truck
    thru the Blackline website.

It went off once in the past two years about 2AM but by the time I
went out there with my pistol whoever it was had hauled arse.

If your not into the self install, go with a Viper system but be prepared for
the installers to add on extra labor/parts cost for additional features beyond the
alarm, door locks and remote start.

I put the keyhole block on the passenger side but never got around to the drivers side. I was worried about battery failure and not being able to unlock the door in anyway.

Did you get all of that in a package? And how much did it run you?

After mine got broke in I put Jimmie Jammers all the way around. Really easy install too. Also put a 2 way viper alarm on it. The remote can be programmed to beep, vibrate, or both if the alarm is triped. It's got it's own speaker under the hood. Also had it run through the trucks horn. Loud as hell. The remote will also send you a conformation back to it once the truck has locked or unlocked. Then put a lock box under the back seat. Got it from 4wheel parts. It's made for jeeps but a little drilling fixed that.

Everything included but the extra anti-jacking/tilt sensor.
If you have priced turbo shutdown timers the APS997N
system is cheaper than a turbo timer.

Was $119 w/shipping off ebay, the anti-jacking/tilt sensor was $27 extra
    w/shipping off ebay.

The proximity microwave sensor will be $15 more w/shipping.
I installed one and showed the customer you could stick
your arm inside the open window and it set off the alarm.
    Great for convertibles.

The Blackline GPS is a separate system, $299 with $40 activation and
$165 per year tracking. I put 6.0 engine nameplates on the doors to
let thieves know they might not want to steal it. :jester:
