Ok so i'm deployed right now and one of my buddies went home early and tried to grab my truck. Assuming it hasn't been started since September of last year, he tried to start it and the battery was dead. He replaced the battery and it turns over but it wont start. He says it smells like its getting fuel but there's no spark. My guess was either the fuel lost its flash point or a coil is going out. If you guys have any other suggestions so im not throwing parts at it from afghanistan please feel free!

    Yep fresh fuel.
Stabil is great to add before deployment.

What do they use in those black birds for
    fuel treatment before mothballing 'em
    for overseas shipment?

Yea fresh fuel wont hurt. But its still not going to start if it doesnt have spark as stated above. What year, model and engine are we working on?

Have your buddy make sure it is getting fuel to the injectors. Yea the fuel is prolly junk beins its been sitting that long. Cycle the key and stick an ink pen in the schrader valve should be a lot of pressure. Be sure he turns his head. This is not the proper way but backyard way to check for pressure, that is if he doesnt have a fuel pressure gauge. Check for spark on each bank and see what you get. If no spark and no fuel look into the crank sensor. If spark and fuel get new fuel. If spark and no fuel check the inertia switch and its connector if ok listen for the pump to run. If its not runnin smack the tank with a hammer( preferably runber mallet ). If fuel and no spark check the coil packs. Also be sure to look at the wiring. Beins its been sittin its very likely there has been a varmint livin in it. Apparently they love the taste of wires haha. After all this all thats left is air and timing. Unplug the IAC valve and see if it will start or feather the gas a little while cranking. Look for restrictions through the intake system. Hope this helps. Thank you for serving our country. Come home safe.
