So, last wednesday the rab made a weird scraping sound when i backed into our driveway. I was turning to the right, i just figured since its warming up outt he truck was making noise in the suspension. Well today, driving out to get some pizza its started making the noise, yet again. But going straight. It got progressively worse as i was on my way back home. The best i can describe it is a "chirping" sound. Accompanied with a grinding kind of sound. Its really hard to explain, and not chancing takin it out to get a video. And after the truck gets goin over i'd say 40mph, i get an awkward smell. I KNOW i need front brakes done again, but it does it even if im not under braking. Nothing is hanging up. Do i have a wheel bearing going out? Or any idea at all? Its parked until i figure this out.

possible your rotors warped? i know on my 97 the pads were down to the bare metal as well as my rotors being warped and it would chirp and grind down on my pads. just a possibility

I dont think they are warped. I've been thru the brakes issues inside and out, and never had this sound. But i havent pulled the wheels to see yet either. I wont rule it out though. The sound is very inconsistent, and varies in loudness, and tone.

for wheel bearings its more of a high pitched whistling. you think it could be a drivetrain issue?

I just had the EXACT same problem. I took it to the shop and it was a wheel bearing. Same noises. Same inconsistency. I'm betting you blew a wheel bearing.

Honestly, i cant really tell. Since i get the hum front the MT's, i still get a slight exhaust tick (even after fixing the EGR tube where it connects to the manifold). It sounds like it could be. I guess you could describe as gears grinding maybe? The squealing is high pitched (almost like a bird tweeting) but none of it is constant/consistent. It comes and goes, and as the truck is driven, it gets worse. Unless what ever it is gave out today.

Can you tell which end of the truck it's coming from? Mine was the front. Jacked the front up and spun the wheels. After I figured out which wheel it was I took it off and started spinning the hub/rotor/whatever. decided it was a wheel bearing and just took it to the shop where they confirmed that's what it was and fixed it

Front driver side it seemed. I'll be tearing into it tomorrow after work to see.

To me it sounds like a rotor or brake issue. But it could be wheel bearing too. I'd say just check it all out just to be safe.
