I was thinkin CV's aswell. Wont really know now until i tear into it. Cant really complain having two years trouble free on a 15 year old truck. All i can say tho, is my driver side rotor/brake pads are gone. And the pass side still looks good.
Check to see if you are driving and it seems to go away when putting pressure on one tire or the other. If you turn left and the noise goes away its your right hub and visa versa. I would lean more toward the hub assembly. I have had one out on the truck now for about 8000 miles. LOL need to replace it, but it can wait till warmer days. One thing about the 4x4 hub assembly, they won't come apart on ya, they just grind like a mother.
Turning to the right makes the thing scream. And as i drive it, it gets worse. And if im backing up, and turn to the right, you can hear it inside the house over the tv and everything.
yeah id vote wheelbearings they can be an on and off noise, it will progressively get worse and they tend to first make there appearence in reverse due to the wearing of the bearing forward that would be my best bet here
Yea i heard it at first while backing up. And they get worse as i drive more, and everything warms up.
Update on this. I was outside checkin it over. And when i grab the driver side wheel top and bottom, and shake it; The hole assembly connected from the CV Axle to the Hub (im assuming) moves a good 1/4" of play. Pass side doesnt do this. Would this for sure be hub assembly then?
