Has anyone ever seen any doors like this? I was thinking about pulling my doors off for the summer and then decided it would probably be an interesting project to weld up some tube doors, that way I can also keep the rigidity of the cab and have a little more safety. I can already see some problems though because I have power windows and locks and I imagine the doors are probably a pain to get back on too. Has anyone had to put back on a door before or ran without them? And I already know about the mirror law, I would probably just end up welding one on the drivers side door. Thanks.
Haven't seen it on a 150 before... Check out some of the tech books, you may have disconnect plugs for your locks and windows.
If you do them right, it shouldnt be too bad. Alot of the ranger and bronco guys do this. Google search it and see what you can find.
I looked for a half hour or so and found nothing, and the only trucks I saw with them were toyotas, broncos, a few rangers, and one or two 9th gens. I looked for a tutorial to take the door off for the sake of being lazy and not leaving my computer and still found nothing, a lot of door panel removals but no actual door removals. Maybe I'm just bad at googleing.
it would probably look good on a lifted truck, idk on a stocker tho, considering them for my WJ after the lift but haven't decided between them or half doors as far as taking them on and off, they are gonna be HEAVY, for wiring, we took a door off my bros taurus we were parting out and all the wires were in one big plug that bolted together
Well that's good about the plug, I'm sure the stock doors are pretty heavy I wouldn't plan on making the tube doors very heavy though, I could probably just use an engine hoist to lift off and on the stock doors that's what I did with my brush guard to mount it and it worked out pretty well. My truck is stock but its a 7700 so it sits higher than the average 150 and I have the T-bars cranked so the front sits about an inch higher than the back.
