so i decided to put in some new u-joints in the rear shaft of the jeep today since i'm picking up some vibrations, well for only 50k miles they were a huge PITA to get out, had to break out the torch and add some heat got them out and attempted to put the new ones in, well i went to the new orielly's around the corner because i had a gift card, well all the guys are new and have no idea what they are doing and it takes them 20 mins to look up a part i couldn't get the cheap POS chinese joints to fit for squat, once you got one side in and put the clip in, then flip it over to tap, well pound the other cap on far enough to get the clip in it would smoosh and push the clip off the other side, and once they were in, the joints were super tight and tough to move, all the clips were pushing out and smashed, i would be afraid to drive it with a shaft like that, so i removed then, boxed them up and i'm gonna return them tomorrow telling them they don't fit and go back to the local Napa and grab some quality name brand parts anyone else have issue like this or issues with oreilly parts?
i personally hate going to oriellys. all the guys behind the counter at the one down here are idiots.
the napa i go to all the guys are 40+ years old and can actually help you, even at some of the advance and autozones all the guys are car nuts, one guy i actually have his personal number and we call him all the time if we need help
