I was 3d printing one of these a while ago. our vents are 2 pieces and the top piece comes off. I was printing a new top piece with the phone holder integrated into it. anyways got rid of my iphone 4gs and got an s5, IMO phones nowadays are far too big to be hanging off a dash. Besides nothing on your phone is that important

I agree. My center console works as a fine place to lay my phone when driving. Only time I'm staring at it is when I need the GPS and it's in my lap. And even then it talks to me and tells me when to turn..

The only time it would be nice to have my phone mounted is when I use the aux for music. I have a solution for that now though.

Maybe for you, but I use Waze all the time and it's a must for dodging speed traps, traffic and wrecks in your area. Not to mention I listen to podcasts regularly so add that with Waze, and I need my phone within arms reach.

Why would anyone want to use
the vent vanes to mount a phone holder
and run the risk of breaking them
    off???
Bama's post has what looks like the best solutions
without using the vent vanes and running the risk
of breaking the air vent directional vanes.
