I picked up a first generation Weatherguard 116-5 for $40 off craigslist and decided to up my toolbox game.

Since these typically retail for $800 and up, I felt like I was getting a good deal. After getting it home, I'm glad I didn't pay more. The top corners were totally rusted out, a lot of the powdercoat was peeling, and it was well used. I think it was owned by a sheetrocker judging by the tools and rust I found.

Thankfully I have a cheap welder and got some patch panels cutout out 14g steel. I also painted the entire thing in rustoleum rusty metal primer after grinding it down, then painted the inside white, outside black, and the the top lid and front in herculiner.

This is a 10g support panel that will hold the 2000lb Harbor Freight Winch.

Inside and floor. I find a white interior makes it a lot easier to find things versus a black one. The entire box is 18g steel, including the floor. Since I wrecked the floor of my last one, I decided to make a quick wooden floor to help support the weight until I can replace it with 10g.

I do a lot of long drives in the summer and like carrying extra fuel. The new floor made it too tall to shut the lid, so i notched the floor and installed a bungee tie-down to hold the gas cans upright.[IMG][IMG][IMG]

You can barely see the red led lights, but they will be plugged into the 4-pin trailer harness for running lights and turn signals.

The D-rings were added since the factory tie-downs are covered by the box, I found myself wanting them more than a few times with the previous box.

Probably one of my favorite mods to a tool box. Some cheap led strip lights plugged to a ground switch. Open the lid, and see what you're looking for![IMG]

    Bike Mounts, for obvious reasons.

Led lights (wires are now ran into the lid through sealed rubber grommets) that are going to be tied into my aux reverse light switch.[IMG]

Placing the Blue Sea fusebox next to the batter. Also installed a Sunpro Voltmeter with an on/off switch to check voltages

Amber clearance lights on the sides. Also be tied into the running lights and turn signals.

Took the box for it's first test run. 700 mile roundtrip to get my sisters from college yesterday. Went through some snow and rain without any issue.
