I'm sure y'all know I love my truck as much as any of you, but with it being 21 feet long it's not exactly the easiest driver for taking the family and junk. We have our escape but if I can get this at a deal it'd be a fun toy for me yet functional as well. It has 170k on the awesome 4.0, 4x4, nothing fancy just basic power options. It's at an insurance/repo/volunteer repo auction with no starting bid and 6 days left (auction ends sept 4th).
If the auction doesn't go too high I. Thinking about scooping it up. Immediate plans would be a 3 in bl with new (CL) wheels and tires, and general cleaning, touch ups, and some black paint. drive it till the motor craps out then swap in a 5.0, tranny, transfer case etc... Out of a 5.0 exploder. Then maybe a SAS later on... gotta watch the auction though. I'm thinking no more than 1800. Could make an awesome functional driver and wheeler. Not like rock crawling, just keep trails and junk.

That'd be sweet man. I say do it as long as the price stays reasonable

Yeah, I'll probably go and actually look at it in the next couple of days before bidding.
I've always like rangers, and I kick myself for sellin my 02. This is essentially a crew cab ranger, everything under the body is identical. so I'd get another ranger, a fun project, and it would be family functional.

My sister has a sport trac. 02 with less than 80k. Not a bad rig. Comfortable and rides nice. I like it, aside from all the girly crap dangling from it.

Sportracs aren't bad IMO. I'm still considering one of the Adrenaline Tracs myself.
