So my truck runs perfectly fine, no loss of power no anything. Stethoscopes it an the tick isn't coming from the bottom end, isn't coming from the passenger side valve cover only place you can hear it really is the timing chain cover an the exhaust manifold on the passenger side. I'm thinking either it's he timing chain tensioner somehow no getting enough pressure for worn out idk. Any ideas?? Here's a vid. Also only comes when warmed up but gets much quieter when put into gear an it goes away with throttle even in park Here's a vid http://i820.photobucket.com/albums/...1-9084-4A94DE8AD0AF-2812-000001D8BAF514F3.mp4
But I would expect to hear a louder tap from the valve cover than I can hear through the stethoscope. It's significantly louder outside than stethoscoping anywhere on the motor?
Maybe it's hitting on an area that is close to a cover mounting bolt and not an area that is "hollow" transmitting the sound to the head/exhaust.
That's what I'm thinking, I'm thinking when it heats up the worn out tensioner doesn't build enough pressure but when it's revved it overcomes that an tightens so it goes away. Can these tensioner a just go bad? My Gauge inside the truck says I have good oil pressure an the drivers side doesn't do it so maybe just pull it apart an swap the chain an tensioner passenger side?
