Thanks AK... your 2 cents worth is added to the pile.

I was going to forego the compression check because it does burn a bit less than a half quart per 1k miles and I intend to overhaul it sooner than later anyway. Any ideas what burning that amount has done to overall performance?

It really does seem to run well. Just choking on all of the California compliant emissions crap. I wondered if the extra smoke in the exhaust triggered a different setting on the computer. I did replace the oxygen sensors and got a couple more miles per gallon. Started at 12.5 and am currently up to 16.

    Thanks again for the input!

Thanks guys... it really is appreciated.

I was going to forgo the compression check because it burns ½ qt. per 1k miles. And I plan on overhauling it sooner than later anyway. Any ideas how much performance I've lost burning that amount? It sure doesn't seem like much as the truck really does run well.

Okay... another attempt at replying. If a bunch show up.. my apologies.

Thanks guys the input is appreciated. I was going to forego the compression check because of the burning a ½ qt per 1k, but may now do it. Any ideas how much performance I've lost burning that amount?

It is going to be overhauled... I really like intakes and cams. Not too sure about the headers. Not looking for ultimate performance... just awesome.

    Hey Thomas,

Put in the Superchip Flashpaq... man what a difference! It actually did everything they said it would... including 2 more miles per gallon. I started at 12.5 so i'm thrilled to be up to 17 now. Can't wait for the Magnaflow dual exhaust and probably a K&N cold air intake.

Going on a road trip to test it over the Big Horns today.

More like it was anchored to California , as it was slipping into the ocean... after an earthquake. Well, not THAT bad but it sure runs better now. No doubt the tuning made a significant difference!

But it does still need to breath... really looking forward to hearing that V-8 through Magnaflow duals after it inhales thru a K&N intake.

    Hey Thomas,

Thanks for the awesome advise! Had the Magnaflow dual exhaust put on yesterday. SWEET! Everything it promised for performance and mileage and then there's the sound! I'll be putting on the final piece Thursday, a K&N intake and that will keep me well pleased until the overhaul this winter.

    Thanks again!

P.S. got some Dynamat coming too.

All that matters is that you're satisfied with the performance. I still wouldn't hesitate to get the needed maintenance done on it.
