I have a neighbor that is wanting to put a system in. He has a stock amp wiring harness and i was wondering how to run off of this instead of from behind te stock radio
If the aftermarket amp has high level inputs, wires can be fed from the speaker lines from the factory amp output directly to the high level inputs of the amps. By using the input gain control on the aftermarket amp, "tuning" the sub woofer output level can be done to prevent distortion at cranked up volumes. Alot of the newer aftermarket amps do not have high level inputs. What is needed is a line output converter. This device changes the higher wattage output from the stock amp or stock radio (Depending on the type) that goes to the speakers to a lower level. This line converter output then goes to the aftermarket amp inputs that are usually the RCA connector type. Some newer factory radios send a very low output to the factory amp. So splicing off the lines from this type radio to the aftermarket amp wouldn't work or could cause damage to the factory radio. Scosche Industries LOC80 Adjstbl Line Out Converter 80 Watts
