2002 Ford Expedition gas tank PO442 code

My 2002 Ford Expedition has the dreaded PO442 evap leak. My mechanic tried repairing with JB Weld but it didn’t work. Also tried buying used tanks but all had the same issue. With so many of these trucks still on the road, I don’t understand why no one sells a new replacement tank.

I don’t understand why no one sells a new replacement tank.

There are aftermarket tanks out there for a lot of these so it's worth checking the parts stores again. Before buying one though I'd get a smoke test done, P0442 is a lot of times the filler neck, gas cap or purge valve and not the tank itself.
